BAREFOOT 704 Galle Road – flagship store.
Our flagship store, 704 Galle Road, is a collection of buildings around an old 1920’s town house.
The front of the store holds our iconic fabric, linen, clothing and Dumbara weaving as well as spa products, tea and spices. Directly behind it is the Barefoot Bookshop which leads you to the old town house which houses our bags, toys, and crafts from around the island, as well as a small open courtyard with brassware and stone work.
You then step down past a working loom and into the Garden Cafe and Bar; on your left is an old house, the Barefoot Gallery, a Colonial home called Ivanhoe. Climbing the wooden staircase takes you to a gallery of photographs lit by bay windows and to a balcony that overlooks the garden and courtyard.
This oasis of calm in the heart of Colombo is a place to rest and restore.
There’s also plenty of room for parking off 8th Lane just behind the cafe.
BAREFOOT at the Dutch Hospital, Fort, Colombo.
The venue is an archaeological site in the business district of the City of Colombo. Built in 1681, the building has five wings which enclose two central courtyards and like many old Dutch buildings the walls are 50cm thick. The location is adjacent to 5 star hotels and is open till late in the evening. The BAREFOOT store at the Dutch Hospital has a small but comprehensive collection of all that we stock at our flagship store.
BAREFOOT in the Galle Fort. 41 Pedlar Street.
Located in the heart of the Galle Fort, BAREFOOT GALLE is at the junction of Church and Pedlar Street. It was a residential property with its own courtyard and was restored with love by Architect Channa Daswatte in 2004. The store has a spirit of its own and is alive with all that BAREFOOT enjoys. The Galle Fort is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
